MENTORSHIP Part 4
TOLERANCE AND PATIENCE
By
Eze Gilbert
Numbers 12:13 KJV
And Moses cried unto the Lord, saying, Heal her now, O God, I beseech thee.
2 Kings 5:27 KJV
The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave unto thee, and unto thy seed for ever. And he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow.
We want to x-ray another quality of a mentor: TOLERANCE and PATIENCE.
The mentor should be tolerable knowing that his mentee may not be knowledgeable to his expectation, and so may act foolishly some times.
From The above scriptures, in the first one, Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses, and when the Lord summoned them to the mountain, Moses reacted to God's judgement with a passionate plea for his sister for forgiveness.
On The other hand, the second scripture shows a replica of many of our type of mentors today. Elisha did not want to understand with His boy at all,
and without wasting time, he pronounced a curse by himself on Gehazi. And that ruined the young man for life.
I am not in any way supporting Gehazi's action at all, just that we need to see the learning point in the story.
Did You notice that Moses had a successful successor while Elisha had to die with His anointing that remained active even in the grave.
Please, if you are truly interested in raising someone after you, tolerate him, because it may take him a little more to fit to your level. Forgive his foolishness and pray for him/her always.
